Warm serenity

BY ANDRÉ RODRIGUES DA SILVA . PORTUGAL . EUROPEWine

I sit by the window watching the night slowly swallow the day. The transition is much faster now that the Autumn is here. The days still exude a cosy warmth but the scent of dry grass is starting to be replaced by the one of wet falling leaves.

As I wait for the night to settle in, I pour myself a glass of Madeira. The fragrance of dried figs, caramel and vanilla whooshes up my nostrils. I sip it and the fruity aroma disperses in my mouth leaving echoes of summer in the after taste. Serenity!
